Layla sitting up!

I was just thinking yesterday about how fast children grow, especially my grandchildren...and along comes this picture of our youngest grandchild, Layla.  She is just 6 months, the time for her to be sitting up, and she is right on schedule.  I must say she is adorable, so absorbed in her toy.  We were just there a month ago and she wasn't even close to sitting up.
Makes me sad to miss all these special times.  Working on ways to be able to travel more and see everyone.  Just takes money!
Hope you all enjoy and hug your little (or big) ones today.

Trying to stay focused

Today being Monday I am going to try hard to stay on course for the week.  That would be a change!
I need to spend some time focusing on goals and writing down where I have been and where I am going.
Easier said than done for me anyway.  How about any of you?  Do you have a clearly written down direction for your future?  If you do, will you share it with me as a template? :)

Today & Today's Quotes

Today, actually this whole weekend was so beautiful!  It was gorgeous out and also just a sweet weekend.  We took a drive yesterdya and again today.  We saw two different areas of north GA and it was such a blessing to see for miles across the mountains.  Always makes me feel like I am flying.

We also heard the last of the 6 messages from the Balanced series that Andy Stanley has been giving.  If you have a chance go download and listen.  They are as "balanced" as I have ever heard on the biblical and share plain rational directions on how to handle the money we are given.  When I pulled up my fear quote for today (that was written a year ago) I was so blessed to see that the message the Lord gave me then, matches up the the 6 messages we have been hearing...always a confirmation that we are on the same wave length.  Need to know I am hearing at least some of the time.  Especially when things seem so dry!

Hope today's message is a blessing to all.

It is a good day!

Just posted today's Fear Quote and it hit me again.  Do you ever write something, put it away and then shock yourself when you read it over?  This one did it to me.  Since I did alot of this writing last year, I am reading it anew with anyone who is reading along.

And it is a good day because it is finally a bit warmer (not 15 degrees this morning, but about 40!) We are about to go on a drive, which we haven't done in awhile.

Just a good day and important for me to remember all my blessings.

How do you keep yourself positive?

Addition to this blog

Tonight I decided to add my fear quotes to this blog. (scroll to the bottom of the page)  You see I have been working on these daily devotionals for over a year now and have not made a whole lot of headway. Turns out to be much more work, study and then introspection each time I write one.  I am hoping that by posting them day by day it will act as a form of accountability and make me keep on through the year.  Pray for me so that the accountability push really works!
Hope you will enjoy.

Working on the future

Too much time has passed since I have written anything. It has been a tough few months so I have spent too much time working on the future I have not had time to put things on paper. Funny thing is that I really should be writing it all down...makes it easier to see it all on paper!
Just before Christmas I was "downsized" from my job. Really pulled me up short! Now I am out in the world, with many hundreds of thousands of other folks, looking for something to sink my teeth into. This time I really want to make sure it is something that has been directed by the Lord, not just a job. But I find it is not easy to make sure it is the right thing for all the right reasons.
In the midst of all this soul searching, or perhaps part of it, I found that my son was way behind in his schooling (product of spending too much time working for someone else and not my family!). We have spent the last 6 weeks, 15 hours a day, writing essays, taking tests and getting caught up. He finished up his very last post at 12:08 this morning, just as his semester logged off! Whew!
Now I am on to the next job of finding a job...or a true direction for the future. Besides "dreaming of daufuskie" I dream of something that will be good for my family, good for others, and give me enough $'s for both!!
Along the way I am reading everything I can get my hands on about the internet, blogging, writing, sharing, creating, learning and growing.
Anything anyone has to share, please send it my way!
Blesssings for everyone on the path...

Fickle Pickle "I am a Stalker, How about You?" Blogging Party

I must thank Heather, Stephanie and all her helpers for arranging this wonderful event. This event made me realize the significance of blogging more than ever before. We as a people are starving for connections. No matter how close we live to others in our house/condo/apartments we don't know them. Everyone is working so hard to keep life moving, we don't have the time to get to know each other at home or at work. While we can't normally visit with our neighbors at 12 AM we can go online and write about ourselves and to each other. Then we can read and write about each other at any time, night or day. So when 40 people came together tonight they jumped right in, because they already knew so much about each other. They already had a "connection"! Wow. There is a lot of power in this blogging world! I also talked to a couple of mom's who asked questions about babies, birth and parenting. Thes are some of the reasons why I started the "A Child Is Born" community. Please join us and share with others on that site. http://achildisborn.ning.com
Can't wait to learn more and more about all of you!

Amazing evening

I just participated in an amazing hour! A local music pastor, who is amazing in technology, put together an online prayer time. He called it "Praying Backward!". He asked everyone to particpate online, write their prayers in the Chat room and pray for the candidates, their wives and even pray for all their children by names. And all together the 4 candidates have lots of children! Then he asked us all to pray especially for the candidate we were not voting for. A real twist on praying for "our enemies". All you can do when you pray for someone is to turn your heart to them and for them, and of course to the Lord. Really powerful. It was amazing watching the prayers roll at full speed across the screen as there were so many taking time out of their evening to pray. As I said it was an amazing, inspirational hour. Makes me want to keep on praying and that can never hurt!

Moving on

We have had a wonderful blessed weekend. I had my hair done yesterday at a new training school. It turned out very well but it took 5 hours which was too many hours for a short weekend! At least we gained an hour with the change from Daylight Savings Time. But I do hate that it now gets dark so early. We spent the rest of a beautiful Saturday just hanging out (Ben, Leo and I)

Church was wonderful this morning. Andy Stanley spoke on How to be Rich and challenged us to give to others with no thought of credit or reward from those we give to. The credit and rewards will come from the Lord. And when we do give that way, we show that we are truly children of the living God.

Marshall spent the weekend on Daufuskie and was able to fix the Bronco at least well enough to drive it off the property. Timely since the property will probably belong to someone else tomorrow. I spoke to Marshall this evening and he commented that he really was over Daufuskie. He realized this time that nothing ever changes there and that no one has any ambition. Since I was just feeling guilty that I couldn't figure out a way to keep the house, it really was timely! It's not about me being able to do anything anyway...if the Lord doesn't do it, it shouldn't be done.

I am working on some new ideas for a blog...time so stop Daufuskie dreaming I believe.

Long time away

I have been a long time away from this blog. I have found it so much more fun living vicariously through many others and their amazing blogs! But I have decided that I want to at least make a stab at this again. Last time I wrote I said that we had made the decision to let our house on Daufuskie go. I have to admit that in fact a head decision was made at that time, but I am still struggling with the heart decision. Over and over I hear the Lord, through my bible study passages, (Matt. 19:16) through songs at church, through music on the radio and through the Word. He says "let it go" over and over, and over and over I do. It's just that I take it back over and over as well!
While this last 8 months has been a struggle, with moving here to Atlanta living in Karl's house, then having to find a new apt. within 10 days; my job has been long, hard, and a constant need for prayer; Leo's health trying to be stabilized. But still, God has shown Himself strong through it all! And then some.
There are promises for those who give up things for "the Lord's sake" and it truly wasn't for my own sake, so I guess we must just wait to see the glory!
Little by little God reveals more and more of His plan to us and I just need to relax and hang on as tight as I can to Him!

New Day

February 12, 2008 by daufuskiedreaming
It seems somehow ironic that I would title this blog, Daufuskiedreaming at this particular time in my journey. This last weekend I have had to make the decision to let our house go…a very painful decision it is! Over the years that we have been married we have lived in about 30 or so places so you have to figure we haven’t spent many years in one place…or a very short time in many places! I guess that would work too. Anyway, we have spent the most years on Daufuskie…little people have spent all their known years there since it has been almost 12 years now. Whew, hard to believe! Especially since I barely walked on the beach at all…spent most of my time going back and forth to work on Hilton Head. Always thought if I just could hold out long enough I would finally have a chance to relax and enjoy. But apparently that is not the plan the Lord has for me and our little Daufuskie cottage. As you can probably tell, this is a tough one for me. But everything has to have an end and I guess this is going to be the one for this part of the journey. I can still dream though…and I will! And I will hopefully continue to fill this site with journeys along the way. More later.
